Picture Lock Unlocked: Ron Newcomb & Mid-Atlantic Studios
Happy Thursday folks! I’ve got another Unlocked Episode of Picture Lock for you. This is a great conversation with Ron Newcomb, indie filmmaker, producer, director, actor and much more. This particular conversation is about his latest endeavor as the founder of the Mid-Atlantic Studios. I made this particular interview an unlocked episode on the podcast simply because of the nature of it. The Mid-Atlantic Studios is a film studio based in the Mid-Atlantic Region (MD, DC, VA, WV, NC, & SC), conducting 100% of the hiring from the region. It’s their believe that if we band together, we can create a more sustainable environment for filmmaking in the region.
Ron will explain the concept further in the episode, but in short, Ron is currently doing equity crowdfunding to try and create a sustainable way for filmmakers in the region to work year round on projects that they care about. So take a listen and see if you’d like to be involved!

Picture Lock Unlocked: 2018 DC Black Film Festival- MBLMTF panel
Hey guys. Sorry I missed you last week! Before this Friday’s episode, I wanted to hit you with another unlocked episode. This year during the DC Black Film Festival we screened the documentary United Skates ahead of our Making Black Lives Matter Through Film Panel. You’ve already heard from co-director Dyana Winkler a couple of episodes ago, but I wanted you all to be able to hear the conversation as it was on stage, unedited. The panel was hosted by WHUR's EZ Street and panelists included: Dr. Erica L. James (professor Francis Marion), Damara Catlett (Principal at Raben Group), Reggie Brown (subject in the film), and Tim Gordon (film critic).
Tomorrow, you’ll have the opportunity to see the film during the Congressional Black Caucus if you live in the DC area. The link to the film screening, which is free, is in the show notes. Picture Lock Unlocked: John "Dr. Teeth" Tucker

John is a legend in hip hop music videos and has continued to evolve his career into narrative film now. “Pas Honteux” is his first venture into the scene and it’s a memorable entre. In this full interview, we dive deeper into his time directing music videos and capturing an era and culture of southern hip-hop and how that helped him be a visual storyteller. Picture Lock Unlocked: Erik Kristopher Myers talks "Butterfly Kisses"
This unlocked episode features my full conversation with Erik Kristopher Myers! Erik, in my opinion, is changing the game in the found footage horror genre with his new film “Butterfly Kisses”. It’s currently on the Film Festival circuit and has been doing well with audiences. I honestly feel like if you haven’t seen the film, you should hold off on this episode until you have because we do discuss spoilers after the first portion that aired for radio. I only say this, because it’s best to see this film with fresh eyes. So I’m giving fair warning. However, for those of us who have seen it, this interview will be a real treat as you’ll get to hear from the man himself about the things that went into creating this film.
