One that we don’t get to is the Netflix release “When They See Us” from Ava Duvernay that looks at the Central Park 5. It’s a tough watch but I suggest folks check it out as while it chronicles a dark spot in our recent history, the story is still playing out today. Host Kevin Sampson talks with critic Tim Gordon about Queen of Katwe and The Magnificent 7. Two time Academy Award winner, Professor Russell Williams II, stops by to talk about going from being a kid from Southeast DC to two time Oscar and Emmy winner. As the first African American to win multiple Academy Awards in any category, his Oscars will be on display in the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture. John W. Franklin, Senior Manager of the Office of External Affairs, NMAAHC, Smithsonian Institution talks with me about the history of bringing the museum to the nation, and what we can expect to see at the opening this weekend!
