Picture Lock Unlocked: RIFE 2017 ft. Erica Ginsberg, Mary Clay Fields & Douglas Phillips

The Reel Independent Film Extravaganza kicks off tomorrow so I wanted to do a special Unlocked episode so you can hear from some of the directors whose film will be playing.  I have Erica Ginsberg, co-director of Creative Feds; Mary Clay Fields, director of Do You Like Peacocks?; and Douglas Phillips, director of Behind the Woods and Across the Sea joining me on the show today. It's a doc filled episode, but a good one!

Kevin Sampson

The fact that Kevin Sampson is not just a film critic, but a writer, producer, and director as well makes his understanding of cinema even better. Coming from a theoretical and hands on approach, he understands both sides of the struggle of viewing and creating great works. After receiving an MFA in Film & Electronic Media from American University in Washington, D.C in 2011, Kevin took his love for film to the next level by creating and producing Picture Lock, an entertainment website, podcast, and hour long film review TV show that runs on Arlington Independent Media’s public access station in Arlington, VA. The show covers new releases, classic films, and interviews with local filmmakers in the DMV area. He is also a member of the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association and African American Film Critics Association. He is currently looking forward to filming his first feature film in the near future. He believes that film is one of the most powerful art forms in the world, and he hopes that he can use the craft to inspire others and make a difference in it.

Picture Lock Radio: Ep. 50- "IT" review

pennywise.png

It's been a minute since the last episode, but I'm joined by Robert Winship to talk about the horror phenom "IT". What was supposed to be a quick review turned into an entire episode. So if you've seen the film, this one's for you, and if you haven't seen the film, we don't venture into spoiler territory!

Picture Lock Radio: Ep. 49- DC Black Film Festival Pt. 1

I’ve got a great episode for you today folks! I love when I get to talk to filmmakers who are submerged in the essence of untainted, still grindin', doing it cuz they love it, art of filmmaking. On today’s episode I’ll be talking with some of the filmmakers who will be displaying their works of art at the DC Black Film Festival next week. I’ve got James Findlay the director of the Forever Alive Vlog Series, Mark Jason Welch, director of GMG Presents: Self Made, Stefon Bristol, the director of See You Yesterday, Joe Petricca, director of A Meditation, and Michael Melvin, director of The Foundation. Hopefully that passion will rub off on you, and at the very least, you’ll join us for the DC Black Film Festival next week.
